e-Arkib launched
‘e-Arkib’ was officially launched on 19 Jan 2012 by .YB Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah,the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The minister underlined the importance of a civilised nation to compile, record and preserve historical materials and treasures for the purpose of historical reference and research that benefits future generations.These materials are a national treasure that chronicled the system of government and administration.
The minister also lauded the implementation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in government services, particularly in institutions such as museums, archive centres and libraries. This commendable integration of ICT will benefit all sides, he added.
The collection consists various forms of data such as government files, images, maps, building plans, audio-visual recordings and others are incorporated into the system. All these materials are dated 25 years and above.
