First locally produced Islamic Encyclopaedia

The year 2011 will mark another major milestone in the country’s history of Islamic studies, when the country’s first locally produced Islamic Encyclopaedia will be launched.

Revealed by the Rector of UNISSA during an interview with the Bulletin yesterday, Dr Haji Serbini Haji Matahir @ Tahir said the first volume of the anticipated launch by UNISSA is expected to take place towards the end of this month during the first-ever intellectual Islamic gathering in Brunei.

There are four volumes in the initial collection, the Bulletin was told, and the following three volumes will be released every year over the next three years followed by other publications in the future.

The perusal of digital technology will also be worked on, he explained, as the contents of the encyclopaedia is hoped to be made available online.
