UNISSA publishes first Arabic-language newsletter

As envisaged by the Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) in improving the quality of Arabic language skills among the undergraduates of UNISSA, the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation has taken the initiative of publishing ‘Al-Nibras’, a newsletter of the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation, three times in each semester. ‘Al-Nibras’ will also be made ??as one of the materials collected for the resource room of the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation, which provides reference books in Arabic.

The newsletter is already in circulation since last August and is an effort to inculcate the culture of reading articles and books in Arabic, a press release stated.

Among the objectives of the issue of ‘Al-Nibras’ as pointed out by Dr Siti Sara binti Hj Ahmad, the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation, is to attract and encourage undergraduates to participate in writing and developing their creativity in the Arabic language.

‘Al-Nibras’ which means light, provides articles, language segment, motivation, special segments for readers to post information and opinions, segments for faculty’s activities and advertisement.

The publication is implemented by a committee consisting of postgraduate and undergraduate students of Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation under the supervision of the academic staff of the faculty.

‘Al-Nibras’ first edition, special edition and subsequent editions will be distributed to the ministries and certain libraries.

‘Al-Nibras’ is intended to be the main media coverage on activities organised by the faculty in order to realise the vision and mission of the faculty that is to uphold the language of the Quran in Brunei Darussalam.
