UNISSA Library’s Arabic collection

In the past months, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Library (UNISSA Library) received, recorded and barcoded more than 13,000 books in the Arabic language of subjects relevant to those taught at UNISSA such as Tafsir, Fiqh, Usuluddin, Syariah, Arabic language, etc.

These books are needed by academics and students to support their research and studies. Print and non-print materials for the UNISSA Library are being ordered throughout the year to meet the academics’ and students’ needs.

During the 2011 year-end long semester break, several UNISSA academics, namely Professor Dr Mekki Klaina, Associate Professor Ahmed Cherchel and Ustaz Abang Hadzmin bin Abang Taha, assisted in sorting the Arabic books according to subjects and sending those that are urgently needed for cataloguing.

Assisting them were four industrial attachment students from Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal (MTSSR) who were undertaking the BDTVEC National Diploma in Information and Library Management.

The MTSSR students were Dayang Haslinda binti Haji Hamid, Siti Nadirah binti Jamaludin, Razanah binti Kassim and Siti Zaleha binti Abdul Jalil. The MTSSR students completed their industrial training on December 31, 2011. Source; Borneo Bulletin 2 Jan 2012
