UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences’ Community Outreach Programme (FASS-COP) will be launching its Mini Library Kampung Amo ‘B’ long house in Temburong today as part of their Human Library Project .

UBD’s Human Library Project is run by a group of third year undergraduates from FASS who are undergoing their Discovery Year, which includes organising a Community Outreach Programme.

The objective of UBD’s Human Library Project is to reach 100 per cent literacy rate of the children in Kampung Amo.

“This mini library is constructed to encourage the children of Kampong Amo to read and as well to improve their reading literacy,” a press statement said yesterday.

The construction of the library began on June 8 and was completed on June 18.

Funds for the library construction were raised from a Zumba charity event held on May 25 with the cooperation and support of the Humanitarian Aid Action Group Katakijau.

“The UBD Human Library Project for this academic semester hopes that the next batch of UBD students that join the Human Library Project will continue to improve on this project and also proceed to other areas not only in Temburong but also in other parts of the county,”
